Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell (born in New York City) is a American television journalist, commentator and anchor of NBC News based at Washington D.C. Mitchell holds a bachelor's degree in English language from University of Pennsylvania. In the year 1967, Mitchell began her career as a reporter with KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia. Mitchell was a reporter at the CBS affiliate WDVM-TV, (then WTOP), in Washington DC. Two years later she became general reporter at NBC News in Washington. In 1981, she began covering for the White House, and in 1988, she was promoted to chief congressional Correspondent. Mitchell was appointed Chief White House correspondent in 1992. and chief foreign affairs Correspondent for NBC News. Mitchell was a panelist for the TV show Meet the Press and also was the host for the program. She participated as a member of the panel at the 1988 Presidential Debates, which featured George Bush, and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the wife of Alan Greenspan who was former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was awarded in 2005 her Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism for the John F. Kennedy School of Government. And in 2004, Radio-Television News Directors Association, (RTNDA) was honoured Mitchell for her contribution to the cause of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell initially covered the White House for NBC News between 1981 and 1988 during the entirety of Ronald Reagan's presidency. Mitchell covered a number of noteworthy reports over the years, including fiscal reform, the budget and The Iran Contra saga. Mitchell traveled extensively with Reagan and Mikhail Gorbachev to world summits.
